Kyle Berck Dominates and Jonathan Cornell collects bounty

I made the trip to Greenwood with my brother Ben for race 31 at the I-80 Speedway  for MLRA/CBC/MARS Late Models and Nebraska 360 Sprints. The Good ol time racers association was also in attendance.

38 Late Models would make the tow to I-80. 26 Cars would start the feature and they put on a Jim Dandy of a show. R.C. Whitwell and Kyle Berck made up the front row. Berck would take early lead and really never look back in the 35 lap feature. About midway thru contact between Chad Simpson and R.C. Whitwell would result in R.C. going around turn 1 and with nowhere to go Jeremy Payne piled in on the drivers side of the Whitwell machine. Both drivers were okay but both ended up on the hook for the night. Billings Missouri driver Jesse Stovall would make a charge to the front and would find himself in 2nd for awhile but Simpson was able to get around him to reclaim the 2nd spot. Kyle Berck would not be challenged much and go on to cross the finish line first. Followed by Chad Simpson in 2nd the rest of the Top 10 looked like this: 00 Stovall 04 Pospisil 75 Phillips 31 Utter 56 Jackson Jr. 42m McCormick 26jr Corey Zeitner and Jake O`Neal rounded out the top 10. Heat Winners Were Chris Simpson, Terry Phillips, Mike Wiarda, and Jason Utter. While Chris Simpson and Tad Pospisil were the 2 B main winners.

Nebraska 360 Sprints were up next. 25 would pull through the gates but the field would be narrowed down to 20 to start the feature. Ankeny driver Chris Martin would take advantage of his front row starting spot and jump to early lead but it was short lived as Sedailia Missouri driver Jonathan Cornell would make the trip worth his tow and take the lead after a few laps. Cornell would jump out to a sizeable lead. But one guy to never count is Jack Dover. Jack who started 11th made his through the field quietly and before you take a breath found himself in 2nd. Lap traffic would play a factor in helping Dover catch Cornell but Jonathan was able to hold him off and collect the bounty that was placed on Jack Dover. Dover would settle for the Bridesmaid spot. Billy Alley(3) Tyler Drueke(12x) Cody Ledger(35L) Chris Martin(44) Jon Agan(4a) Dakota Hendrickson(5h) Jake Martens(48) and Trevor Grossenbacher(1B) would round out the top 10.

Also while I was at I-80 they were racing go-karts on the little track behind the grandstands. During intermission I wandered down there and watched a couple features. I added another race to my stat sheet and added a new track. Which on the year so far brings my total to 32 races. 18 different tracks and 1 new track for my list of tracks.

Also on a side note I want to thank the I-80 Speedway and there staff for putting on a great show and giving the drivers a nice smooth surface to race on. If you have not been to I-80 yet you need to make the trip over as its well worth it.
